Vintage and very scarce Northern Alberta Railways button.
Measures 7/8" in diameter.
Silver tone.
Made by Wm. Scully Ltd of Montreal.
Assuming it dates to about the 1950s, possibly a little newer or a little older.
The last one we noticed available to the public sold for over $190.00 US...and it was a GOLD TONE, NOT a silver toned one!!! I have never seen a silver toned one be offered publicly yet!
NAR was established in 1929 with the amalgamation of 4 railways: the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia (ED&BC), the Alberta and Great Waterways Railway (A&GW), the Canada Central Railway (CCR) & the Pembina Valley Railway (PVR).
NAR merged with Canadian National Railway in 1981.
We also have 3 other versions of this button from this railway listed on Etsy.
**** Beware, we DO NOT have a large quantity of these, so if you want one for your collection, buy it now! Most NAR collectors themselves do not own one! They do not come available often! How did we obtain them? In mid 2016 we purchased the bulk of the button inventory from a company who manufactured uniforms for CPR, CNR, and other firms. This consisted of literally thousands of buttons.....BUT, after sorting out of those many thousands of used and NOS (new old stock) company uniform buttons, we ended up with only a PARTIAL HANDFULL of NAR buttons! They seem to remain as scarce as they ever have been! Once the small quantity we have is gone, the well will be dry again!
